Fibre Fusion presents its beautiful range of Shimma Silk Fibres on a smorgasboard of over a dozen delicious colours. Pictured right is a dyed silk lap in Willow colour. The Shimma Silk Range includes silk laps, tops, caps, and filament in both undyed and dyed forms. We have attempted to make them as colourfast as possible but there may still be some dye discharge when warm water and soap are applied.
Shimma Silk Fibres can be used in all sorts of textile pursuits including spinning, paper making, wet felting, needle felting, doll making and machine embellishment.
Whilst silk fibres can't felt by themselves due to an absence of scales, felters use felting wool as the 'glue' to felt silk fibres into a wool fibre base to produce stunning silk/wool felt. Lay your own base of our Divine Wooltops or use our Felbi Prefelt as a base, lay a fine layer of our Shimma silk fibres on the surface and hand felt it all together.
