More Info

When flattened in a bell shape, it measures about 30cm  across the base and about 35cm from the centre of the base to the tip.  By opening up the base of a whole cap and  placing your hands inside  you can stretch the cap out to form a 3D bowl shape.  Felters can incorporate these wonderful forms when felting vessels like bags, hats  and bowls.

The cap can be separated into 3 or 4 individual layers and  used as surface embellishment when wet felting our Divine Wool Top or Felbi Prefelt.  These layers can be shaped into any form including circles, squares or  oblongs and placed on a bed of wool fibre.  The silk has no scales  so relies on the felting wool to integrate it into a  wool felt through the process of wet felting.

We have stretched these caps out to about 50cm in diameter and then pushed a hole through the tip and expanded it to create a tube.  This tube can be used as large circle shape or cut and laid out to make a long fibrous scarf of silk fibre .
